I earned a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Idaho . This was a natural choice for me as I grew up in Moscow in a musical family complete with professional Symphony players and Scottish pipers. It was only natural then, for me to start piano lessons at the age of seven in my living room under the instruction of my mother.
I successfully pursued both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Piano Performance at the University of Idaho, where I studied under the tutelage of Jay Mauchley and Rajung Yang. In addition to solo piano studies, I also studied theory and ear training pedagogy as well as choral arranging from National Professor of Music Dan Bukvich. During my time at the University of Idaho, I was afforded many performance opportunities as an accompanist, solo and chamber pianist, and member of the University of Idaho Jazz Choirs. Some notable performances include singing onstage with world renowned artist Bobby Mcferrin, and Jazz and Gospel singer Dee Daniels at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.
An active music teacher since 2006, I draw on my interest in diverse music styles, including pop classical, folk, Celtic and world music, as well as seven years of experience teaching theory and ear training at the college level. Through exposure to a variety of music, and a strong foundation in fundamentals, I believe that any student can find the means to express themselves through music what they cannot say otherwise.
